RESNA 2009 Annual Conference
Computer Applications Show-and-Tell
Call for Participation

May 4, 2009

Greetings! The 2009 RESNA Conference will soon be here! Just a reminder for those interested in participating in the SIG-11 Computer Applications Show-and-Tell.

The SIG-11 Computer Applications Show-and-Tell provides an opportunity for RESNA professionals to present photos and/or video on unique cases, techniques, or tools involving computer applications in assistive technology. Topics include, but are not limited to adaptations made to computer devices or software, tips on the use of new computer hardware or software, little-known products, unusual combinations of different devices or programs, and unique ways to use computers as assistive technology. Presentations will be short and informal and limited to five or six participants.

The SIG-11 Show-and-Tell has been a consistently popular forum for discussion of computer cases and methods since the 2000 RESNA Conference. This year's event is scheduled for Friday, June 26 from 12:15 - 1:30 pm.

Presenters must include the following in their presentation:

  • A brief background on the consumer or product
  • A brief description of the assessment or unique features of the product
  • An explanation of why a unique or creative approach was utilized
  • Technical specifications

Pertinent Outcomes: Participants are encouraged to use projection photo, video, or computer slide presentation programs to illustrate their case.

Structure of Session: Each presenter will be given eight minutes to show photos and/or video depicting their unique computer-related solution. Presenters will be free to follow any format. For case studies, presenters are encouraged to include a brief background on the consumer and the scenario. The case should include a brief description of the decision-making process followed during the evaluation, an explanation of why a unique or creative approach was needed, technical specifications, and outcomes. An additional five minutes will be allotted for questions and discussion following each presentation.

Required Handout Materials: Participants are required to submit a brief two-paragraph summary of their presentation along with their contact information (name, affiliation, phone & fax number, and email address) to the session moderator by Wednesday, May 27. This material will be used to create handouts for the session and will be posted on the RESNA SIG-11 website after the conference.

If you would like to participate, please submit a brief two-paragraph summary of your presentation along with contact information by Wednesday, May 27th to:
