Computer Applications Show-and-Tell
Call for Participation

Greetings! The 2009 RESNA Conference will soon be here! Just a reminder for
those interested in participating in the SIG-11 Computer Applications
Show-and-Tell.
The SIG-11 Computer Applications Show-and-Tell provides an opportunity for
RESNA professionals to present photos and/or video on unique cases, techniques,
or tools involving computer applications in assistive technology. Topics
include, but are not limited to adaptations made to computer devices or
software, tips on the use of new computer hardware or software, little-known
products, unusual combinations of different devices or programs, and unique
ways to use computers as assistive technology. Presentations will be short and
informal and limited to five or six participants.
The SIG-11 Show-and-Tell has been a consistently popular forum for
discussion of computer cases and methods since the 2000 RESNA Conference. This
year's event is scheduled for Friday, June 26 from 12:15 - 1:30 pm.
Presenters must include the following in their presentation:
- A brief background on the consumer or product
- A brief description of the assessment or unique features of the product
- An explanation of why a unique or creative approach was utilized
- Technical specifications
Pertinent Outcomes: Participants are encouraged to use projection
photo, video, or computer slide presentation programs to illustrate their case.
Structure of Session: Each presenter will be given eight minutes to
show photos and/or video depicting their unique computer-related solution.
Presenters will be free to follow any format. For case studies, presenters are
encouraged to include a brief background on the consumer and the scenario. The
case should include a brief description of the decision-making process followed
during the evaluation, an explanation of why a unique or creative approach was
needed, technical specifications, and outcomes. An additional five minutes will
be allotted for questions and discussion following each presentation.
Required Handout Materials: Participants are required to submit a
brief two-paragraph summary of their presentation along with their contact
information (name, affiliation, phone & fax number, and email address) to
the session moderator by Wednesday, May 27. This material will be used to
create handouts for the session and will be posted on the RESNA SIG-11 website
after the conference.
