Kathy Griffin's Notes

The meeting was called to order by Kirk Siqveland, SIG-11 Chair. Introductions were made by everyone in attendance. This year's turnout was much higher than in previous years with 28 present.

Kirk Siqveland presented updates from the Board and Chairs' meeting which included discussions on the new RESNA website and that individual SIG websites should match the look at least for the home page. Also discussed was the RESNA North America Initiative that has the goal of broadening RESNA's reach outside of North America to Central and South America. Anyone with contacts in Central or South America is urged to contact RESNA with the names and contact information. Strategies for increasing SIG involvement were also discussed.

After a description of the duties of the SIG-11 Chair and Vice-Chair, elections for new officers were held. Todd Schwanke, MSE, ATP was elected Chair and Kathy Griffin, ATP was elected Vice-Chair.

Next projects and activities of the SIG were discussed. Kirk Siqveland suggested that an "AT - Solutions" Wiki be created. Kirk volunteered to start a small one with two -three things in it. The Wiki will focus on Objectives, Problems, and Solutions for each idea submitted. Keywords will be attached at the beginning of each item so that a searchable database can be set up. Denis Anson offered to help with this project. The SIG-11 membership approved the idea.

Other activities of SIG-11 include the Developers Forum and the Computer Applications Show & Tell which are held at RESNA each year. It was suggested that the RESNA listserv be tracked and we could contact people who have come up with an innovative solution to a problem and ask them to participate in the Computer Applications Show & Tell. New groups to contact for participation in the Developer's Forum were discussed. There included SBIR grant recipients and NSF/NIH/NIDRR fellowships. It was suggested that a CD be made to distribute at the SIG Open House that would have lists of free and public domain software as well as the great info that Dave Jaffe sends out to SIG-11 members.

New Business - Dave Jaffe suggested providing an MP3 audio file for each poster session to make it accessible to the visually impaired. This idea had been demonstrated as a poster session at the conference by Mark Novak. The need for improved content for the alt tags for the proceedings was also discussed. Suggestions for SIG-11 related courses/workshops and presentations for next year's conference were also discussed.

The meeting was adjourned.
