Code by Voice Faster Than Keyboard From: I Programmer - 08/13/2013 By: Ian Elliot Is it possible that we have been wasting our time typing programs. Could voice recognition, with a little help from an invented spoken language, be the solution we didn't know we needed? In 2010 Travis Rudd developed a case of Emacs Pinkie (RSI) so severe his hands went numb and he could no longer type or work. Desperate, he tried voice recognition. At first programming with it was painfully slow but, as he couldn't type, he persevered. After several months of vocab tweaking and duct-tape coding in Python and Emacs Lisp, he had a system that enabled me to code faster and more efficiently by voice than he ever had by hand.
