Sunu brings a new whole world of independence to individuals with low vision From: Westminster Technologies - 02/27/2017 The first smart-watch that uses sonar technology to improve navigation for a person with low vision, the Sunu Band uses vibration feedback to alert the wearer of obstacles around them in order to move around with confidence. When using a white cane or guide dog, there are still obstacles that cannot be easily detected above the knees – tree branches, signs, door thresholds, exits, etc. Sunu Band will detect obstacles that are 7 feet (indoor mode) or 14 feet (outdoor mode) and when worn on the wrist allows the user to detect potential obstacles all around them with small wrist movements. When a hindrance is detected, the band vibrates to alert the user. The closer the obstacle the faster the vibrations. Settings give the user customization for their height and white cane length to maximize navigation.
