Bionic Eye Implant Allows Blind to See From: Medical Design Technology - 05/02/2017 By: Sheri Kasprzak Earlier this year, the National Health Service in the United Kingdom funded a trial to enable 10 patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa to undergo the surgical implant of a new bionic eye device called the Argus II Bionic Eye Implant. RP affects one in 4,000 people worldwide. The Argus II is the first device of its kind to restore sight to people who have been left completely blind by the disorder.
