What It's Like to Have Super Hearing Abilities

The superhuman ability to tune out certain noises is now available in a pair
of wireless Bluetooth earbuds called Here Active Listening. They work with a
smartphone app to change the way you hear anything from rock concerts to
construction noise. Created by a startup called Doppler Labs, Here lets you
swipe to adjust the volume on a conversation you’re having with a friend
who’s standing in front of you (or, say, turn down a TV show without having
to change the sound level for anyone else who’s watching). There are also
eight different filters, still in beta, meant for eliminating noise in
specific situations—on a subway, bus, plane, or office, for instance.

Here Active Listening System is a pair of wireless Bluetooth earbuds that
work with a smartphone app that uses algorithms to change the way you hear
anything from rock concerts to construction noise, with hardly any latency.

Here One - Wireless Smart Earbuds

Your earbuds can probably play music, take phone calls, and summon a personal
assistant like Sin or Google Now, but they’re not very smart. Startup Doppler
Labs is one of several companies that have figured this out. Its wireless
earbuds let you manipulate the world around you by filtering all kinds of
sounds (turn down the din in a restaurant, for instance) and helping you home
in on the ones you want to enhance (turn up the person speaking to you). The
ear gear, called Here One, is too pricey for the average consumer and still
has plenty of kinks to work out. Still, its capa bilities offer a fascinating
look at where wearable technology is heading.
