Monitor your parent's house for falls without a wearable device Emerald is a new device that detects elderly falls and monitors fall precursors including gait and balance problems, all without requiring any on-body sensor. Emerald is based on patented and award-winning technology from MIT CSAIL called WiTrack. Emerald tracks the 3D motion of a person from the radio signals reflected off her body. Similar to a Wi-Fi router, Emerald works even if the person is in a different room than the device. There's no need for the individual to wear any sensor or modify their behavior in any way. Emerald exists in the background of the home. The movement pattern associated with a fall is unique and detectable by Emerald's software. The data can also provide information about how a person's mobility is changing and even for gait analysis to help predict when a person's risk for a fall is increasing. No preventative products of any kind currently exist.
