Hand-held Breathalyzer to Monitor Blood Glucose in Development

Scientists are working toward creating a non-invasive device that will help
people with diabetes check their blood glucose levels without having to do a
finger stick test.

To use, patients would blow into the device, which would then give an instant
reading of acetone levels, which has been linked to high blood glucose levels.

The team is working towards making the device, which is currently the size of
a small book, even smaller and hope to have the device commercialized by the
end of 2017.
