The complicated motion-control mechanisms coordinate movements of the bowls and spoon. Engineers with Mealtime Partners Inc., Azie, TX, have designed and manufactured a robot, dubbed the Mealtime Partner Dining System, that can autonomously feed people with physical or mental disabilities. The final product has been shown to reliably form a controlled spoonful of food in terms of size using flexible and versatile controls. It also mounts and can be positioned to work with people unable to sit at a table.
