Luna Lights at Northwestern raises $70k to reduce night time falls for older adults and completes the Healthbox Accelerator From: Design for America - 02/05/2015 Luna Lights is an automated lighting system that guides older adults to their destination in dark rooms. Detecting when the user sits up in bed, the motion sensor triggers a system of small lights to illuminate a path, and then turns off automatically upon the user's return to his or her bed. The stick-on lights are portable for a customizable path to any destination and dimly light up any possible hazards while avoiding the "old" stigma that haunts many assisting devices. Luna Lights enhance older adults' confidence, independence, and mobility while reducing in-home falls.
