Inhalable Insulin Devices Offer Diabetics Alternative to Injections

Last year, the FDA approved an inhaled insulin therapy for the treatment of
T1DM and T2DM (type 1 and type 2 diabetes), which will give patients an
alternative treatment option to injection. According to the MannKind
Corporation, this newest form of inhaled insulin therapy is composed of
recombinant human insulin and an inert excipient, which has a more rapid
onset and shorter duration of activity than current injectable insulin.
Therefore, it more closely mimics mealtime endogenous insulin secretion.
