I've actually watched a number of robots trying to do this task, but was never satisfied with what I saw. Of course, there are already robots that are able to feed people with upper limb difficulties or with a palsy, but they are generally big, ugly, expensive, and not available for everybody. That's something I set out to change. The goal was to create a robot that was portable, affordable, and very easy to reproduce by anyone with the desire to help another person feel independent again.
