Could pilots fly aircarft using their minds? From: ECN - 02/27/2015 The BRAINFLIGHT project has an ambitious goal - complete control over aircraft (or a significantly reduced workload) using nothing but your mind. The team from Tekever and a collection of European researchers from Champalimaud Foundation (Portugal), Eagle Science (Netherlands), and Technische Universitat Munchen (Germany) recently demonstrated their brain-computer interface (BCI) on a simulator for the Diamond DA42, a four-seat, twin-engine, propeller-driven aircraft, and the results could lead to a sea change in aviation. And since the system alleviates manual control, BRAINFLIGHT could encompass nearly any mode of transportation — automobiles, for example. Auto-parking systems would seem trivial next to vehicles you could safely operate using nothing but your mind. It would revolutionize how we treat the physically handicapped (or exceedingly lazy).
