Touching Memories Printed on a Pirate From: Product Design & Development - 11/05/2014 One group of people heavily relies on the third dimension - the visually impaired. This segment of the population is unable to simply pull out an old photo album and relive the memories of past birthdays and holiday vacations. Though blind people can invoke memories in their minds, it isn’t exactly the same as looking at old photographs. So Singapore-based Pirate 3D decided to use tangibility to revisit memories. The company teamed up with the Spanish creative agency LOLA to produce an insightful mini-documentary detailing how 3D prints of photos have preserved the memories of five visually impaired individuals. Brazilian filmmaker Marco Aslan directed the documentary, "Touchable Memories," with the aim of showcasing growing 3D printing benefits.
