Mouth-Controlled Joystick Lets Quadriplegics Play From: Product Design & Development - 02/10/2014 By: Melissa Fassbender Matt Victor is a C1 quadriplegic, with no feeling from his neck down, but that doesn’t keep him from playing his favorite video games. Using a series of sips and puffs, he can move digital characters as he would with any standard game controller. The joystick for quadriplegics, or Quad Control, was first designed by Ken Yankelevitz. Due to age, Yankelevitz is no longer manufacturing the controller, leaving a want from loyal customers like Victor. To answer demand for the Quad Control, engineer Fred Davison decided to take on the task of developing a new controller, and is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter for his updated version, the QuadStick.
