How Evermind Works 
Appliances like lights, coffee makers, televisions and more are plugged into
sensors which are in turn plugged into the wall. When Grandpa makes his
coffee in the morning, the sensor detects when the coffee-maker is switched
on and relays the information to the Evermind network. Then, you receive a
text message notifying you that the appliance is in use.

Evermind includes three sensors which give you the ability to monitor up to
three appliances. The connection to the Evermind network is established
through built-in wireless Internet.

Technology Monitors Changes in Routine among Older Adults and Others Living

New technology aims to provide an economic, advanced tool engineered to allow
older adults or others who live alone and have physical or intellectual
disabilities to maintain an independent lifestyle. Evermind features a design
intended to be unobtrusive and uses three sensors to monitor small electrical
appliances.

A news release from the Nashville, Tenn-based company of the same name
reports that by using built-in wireless Internet, the technology then allows
family members to receive text messages or email notifications when an
appliance is used or not used within a specific time period—usually when
changes in daily routines could be a cause for concern, such as making coffee
in the morning or watching the evening news.
