Clothing and dementia People suffering from dementia can experience overwhelming confusion, disorientation, and anxiety because of their condition. To ease their anxiety, sufferers have developed a series of physical coping strategies, essentially different kinds of fidgeting. Many therapeutic objects have been designed to enable those behaviors. The therapeutic tools are ugly and look like child toys. Their use could be seen as demeaning to the families and to others.
