More than 25 million Americans suffer from asthma, but only 35% use their
peak flow meter to monitor their respiratory vital signs. Vitalflo is a
device that reliably monitors a user's breathing, while showing the best ways
to manage and treat changes in their breathing using a smartphone. Winners of
the Medical Category, sponsored by Avnet Electroncis Marketing, the team from
North Carolina State University developed the device to help not only
asthmatics, but also those suffering from respiratory diseases such as COPD.
team members are Dr. John Muth, James Dieffenderfer, Leigh Johnson, and Mike
Brown.
