The main idea behind HaptiVision is to vibrate spatial information back to
blind people. The device in the magazine has a rangefinder and one vibration
motor. It can be mounted on the head, and then the blind person can "look"
around their environment, and if objects are close, the vibration motor will
vibrate more.

"Right now for my senior lab project I'm working on expanding the device by
using a 3D laser rangefinder and a matrix of vibration motors worn on the
back, so instead of having to look around, the 3D rangefinder already has a
spatial view of the entire area and the matrix of vibration motors can work
together to vibrate more information."
