Dragon with Intel Mac From: KnowBrainer NaturallySpeaking Forum KnowBrainer Speech Recognition Forum Members: For the loyal Mac users out there, I have previously reported on the use of Dragon with an Intel-based Mac, and tested a variety of microphones with this hardware. I have now had the chance to test Dragon in three configurations with an Intel Mac: 1. Boot Camp (hard drive split into separate Mac and Windows partitions) 2. Fusion (running Windows on a "virtual" machine within the Mac OS) 3. Parallels (running Windows on a "virtual machine with in the Mac OS) I report to you now that Dragon works extremely well in all three settings, with no obvious reduction in speed with each of the two "virtual" set-ups (Fusion and Parallels). The Intel based Mac has a few peculiarities in terms of microphone compatibility. Like the PC running the Vista operating system, most mics seem to work best (and some work only) with an external USB adapter on an Intel Mac. Using Dragon on a Mac requires the purchase and installation of a Windows operating system, so it's a fairly pricey way to go, but for those needing a Mac for other reasons, it's great having the option of using Dragon, rather than being limited to iListen and the Mac version of ViaVoice. Additional information and specifics about compatibility are posted on my site at: Macintosh Resource Page (My testing environment: Apple MacBook Pro with 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, running Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac, Windows XP Pro, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.5 Medical Solutions. Fusion testing was done with version 1.1. Boot Camp testing was done on same machine, both with the Tiger and Leopard operating systems.)
