Bobby 5.0 explains webpage accessibility Section 508 errors From: Government Computer News - 06/02/2003 - page 25 By: Patricia Daukantas The latest version of the Bobby site accessibility test tool has more spidering and reporting capabilities. Bobby 5.0 is the first release under the Watchfire Corp. name, said David Grant, director of accessibility solutions for the Waltham, MA, company. Watchfire acquired Bobby last summer from CAST of Wakefield, MA, the original developer. Responding to user comments, Watchfire divided Bobby's reports into a summary of errors and warnings plus a list of details, Grant said. Bobby 5.0 can be set to screen for noncompliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 or other accessibility standards such as those of the World Wide Web Consortium, Grant said. The reports call attention to so-called manual errors that a human must evaluate. The new version can spider through a site to check pages beyond a log-in page, Grant said. Bobby 5.0 runs under Microsoft Windows 98 and later Windows versions. It lists for $299 per seat or $99 for upgraders.
