Design / Mechanical Rehabilitation Engineer or Rehabilitation Technologist

The Rehabilitation Technology and Therapy Center at Lucile Packard Children’s
Hospital at Stanford (formerly the Rehabilitation Engineering Center) has
full time position available for a Rehabilitation Engineer or Rehabilitation
Technologist with experience in product design/development, augmentative
communication service delivery, and a good working knowledge of recommending
and implementing assistive technology for computer access. This individual
will be part of a highly skilled team of therapists, clinicians and
technologists participating in clinical evaluations of children and adults
with disabilities as well as a 3 year research and development project for
video teleconferencing.  

Skills required include computer knowledge, design and development
techniques, fabrication skills and knowledge of materials and components,
biomechanics, and physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy. Candidate
should have a working knowledge of assistive technology hardware, software
and adaptive peripherals; ability to trouble shoot operating system conflicts
and design custom components for clients. 

Candidates should have:

    At least two years of recent experience working with individuals with
    physical disabilities and experience with design and development projects. 

    Demonstrated knowledge of physical disabilities, design and development
    techniques, computers, multimedia equipment, and functional implications
    and intervention principals for children with disabilities. 

    ATP certification or desire to attain it. 

    Good written and oral communication skills. 

    Bachelors degree in Rehabilitation, Design, Electrical or Mechanical
    Engineering.
