Bresler, MBME, PE. and Marvin Bowman, SWAT This is an introductory course for people new to the field. While many switches and adapted toys are available, the skills taught in this workshop will allow custom adaptations, and repairs to be made. The workshop will last until each participant is able to construct a switch and modify a toy, which they will be able to take. 9:15 - 3:00 Confused By the Information Super Highway? How to find the on-ramp so you can access the information Ed Collins Ph.D. This workshop is designed for professionals with limited or no experience interested in accessing the Internet and World Wide Web Servers related to people with disabilities. The workshop also allows the opportunity for hands-on exploration of Internet and World Wide Sites. Participants will be presented information and the opportunity to access it through these sources, including government agencies, service providers, research facilities, universities, and manufacturers' home pages. Each participant will also receive handouts of Web Sites for further research. IMPORTANT NOTE This session will be held at Room 212 of the University of Central Oklahoma Education Building. The Education Building is on University Drive off of 2nd St. in Edmond, and is between the Administration Building and the Library Participants can either drive their own vehicle, and use a parking permit which will be sent, or may catch a van in front of Children's Hospital at 8:30- 8:45 Noon - 1:00 Lunch (late registrants will not be provided lunch) About some speakers....... Leonard Anderson Rehabilitation engineer has over 20 years experience in the field of rehabilitation and assistive technologies working at the Cerebral Palsy Research Foundation of Kansas in Wichita. His expertise is in Service Delivery and Work site Modifications. Linda Parker Became Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Services on July 1, 1996. Previously, she had been employed with DRS as Division Administrator for the Management Services Division, and at the Department of Human Services as Deputy Division Administrator in the Human Resources Division. She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1971 with a Masters in Special Education, with special emphasis in Disability Evaluation. Trudy Posner Started Occupational and Speech Therapy Resources Inc (OSTR) as a staffing agency for permanent and part time placement. She also wrote "Dysphasia Resource Manual" which was published through AOTA. OSTR was sold to allow more time with her two boys, which she raises with her husband, Mark Bresler. Colleen Raymond Worked for Norman Public Schools in the physical therapy department, next ran the respite care program at the J. D. McCarty Center, then worked at UCP as Services Coordinator/Assistive Technology, and now serves as the Able TECH/OASIS AT information and refferal specialist Ed Collins, Ph.D Special education professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, Executive Board of the Oklahoma Tourette Syndrome Association, the Professional Advisory Board of the Oklahoma Learning Disabilities Association, the Teacher Division of Oklahoma Council for Exceptional Children, the National Education Advisory Board of Tourette Syndrome Association, and the Executive Board of the Oklahoma City Chapter for Autistic Citizens. Dr. Collins has also been actively involved in planning this Annual Conference since 1987. Mark Bresler Came to Oklahoma City in Mach 1982 to become the Rehabilitation Engineer at the O'Donoghue Rehabilitation Institute.
