NetPhonic Communications (Mt. View, CA 415/962-1111) has developed software that enables users to access World Wide Web Pages by telephone, fax, or e-mail, thus opening up the Web to those who do not have access to a PC. All that is needed is a telephone. The product, Web on Call, is a UNIX-based Web server add-on. Whe used with a voice modem, the software enables users to call into a Web site. The software converts HTML pages into speech, with hypertext links signaled by a special tone. Pressing a key on the telephone will forward to that link. Users also have the option of having any page faxed or sent by e-mail. The software will cost $1000 per incoming line and will be avavilable in mid 1996. The company can arrange a phone demonstration. Mobile Office May, 1996 - page 26
