Job Opportunity - Full Professorship at Dundee University

Chair in Applied Computing 
University of Dundee, Scotland.

An exciting opportunity for a well qualified computing professional, with a
commitment to research into the applications of computing systems, to join
the friendly, supportive and expanding Division of Applied Computer Studies. 
We have particular interests in the application of computers in areas of high
social impact, and usability engineering and user centered software
engineering. 

The Applied Computer Studies Division has a world class reputation in Human
Computer Interaction, and Computer and telecommunication services to support: 
	Elderly and disabled people, 
	Interpersonal communication, and  
	Teaching and learning,
	
together with expanding research in health informatics, speech and signal
processing, and a committment to increasing the representation of women in
the discipline. 

There are fourteen full time academic staff (all of whom are research active)
and sixteen research staff. With an engineering ethos, and a major focus on
interdisciplinary research and technology transfer, the Division holds
research grants of #1.7M, and has developed a number of commercialised
products. 

Applicants should have a proven research record in a field which is
complementary to, but can be linked with the current research interests of
the Division, and should also have teaching interests in computing and
information technology. Applications are encouraged from research active
academics and professionals currently working in industry. A dowry
lectureship may be available to complement the Chair.  

The City of Dundee is one hour north of Edinburgh on the East coast, and
within one and half hours of Scotland's other major cities. It has high
quality of life, reasonable house prices, and an excellent hinterland, and it
is close to some of the most scenic parts of the U.K., with excellent
opportunities for hill walking, skiing, sailing, golf, and other outdoor
pursuits.
