CELL PHONES DO THE INTERNET Motorola has a new service that can check your e-mail and convert it into a voice message you can hear over the phone. The service will also be able to send and receive faxes, and by next year should be able to turn a voice message into e-mail and send it for you. It's expected to cost about $20 a month for receiving e-mail and other messages, and 50 cents a minute to send messages. Meanwhile, Finland's Nokia has a "smart phone" whose handset flips open to reveal a small keyboard and screen that does much the same thing as Motorola's service. Nokia's model, based on GSM technology, won't be available in the U.S., where the technology has been blamed for interfering with hearing aids. (Wall Street Journal 25 Mar 96 B10)
