Access to the Information Superhighway A Conference January 11, 1996 (Thursday) HOFSTRA UNIVERSITY Hempstead, Long Island, NY This conference will showcase "how" the Information Superhighway is being, and will be, made accessible for Americans with disabilities. Keynote speakers working on cutting-edge "ramps" for the World Wide Web, Mosaic, Netscape, etc., will focus on access for people with hearing, vision, mobility and learning disabilities. Hands-on opportunities to surf the 'Net and use PC's will be offered, as will hands-on experiences with vendor products and services. The luncheon address is by U.S. Representative Daniel Frisa (R-NY), who is a member of the House- Senate Conference Committee currently hammering out the final version of the Telecommunications Reform Act of 1995. A closing session will demonstrate real-time voice/video/data transmission over ISDN lines via PictureTel equipment that handles voice, sign language, and data simultaneously. Registration fees (including lunch, morning coffee/danish, and hands-on experiences) is $55. Pre-registration is required.
