Here's some info on Lynx, a program that gives character-based access to Mosaic (i.e. World Wide Web) info. It runs on various UNIX and VMS machines. All you have to do is dial in to the machine with a terminal emulator and modem. (Of course, the UNIX or VMS machine must have an internet connection). Thus, you get faster transfers and, most importantly for our present concerns, it's available to people who have Braille or Speech screen readers attached to their terminal emulator. Lynx also gives access to ftp and gopher via the same interface. Susan Brummel and others are also looking at this for interface to screen readers. Lynx can currently be obtained by anonymous ftp from: ftp2.cc.ukans.edu in the pub/lynx directory. A descriptive page about Lynx can be viewed via Mosaic or Lynx itself via the address: URL: http://www.cc.ukans.edu/about_lynx/about_lynx.html Owner(s): mailto:lynx-help@ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu A listserv list has been created for information about Lynx and for notification of updates. The listserv is called: lynx-dev@ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu. You may sign-up by sending a message with "subscribe lynx-dev " as the only line in the message to listserv@ukanaix.cc.ukans.edu. DO NOT send subscribe requests to the lynx-dev list itself. Len -------------------------------------------------------------------- Leonard R.
