CALL FOR ARTICLES -- SPECIAL SCIENCE/MATH ISSUE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND DISABILITIES (volume I, no. 4) DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: September 20, 1994 PUBLICATION DATE: October 20, 1994 Access to technical texts and facilities, although long-neglected, is finally being addressed by researchers in a number of fields. The editors of Information Technology and Disabilities are assembling a special issue of this quarterly electronic journal devoted to science and math. We encourage authors who are working on accessible technical texts, adaptive laboratory facilities and any other issues related to access to science and technical materials and facilities, to submit articles. This special issue of ITD will include a technical description of the ground-breaking research of Dr. T.V. Raman. Dr. Raman's Audio System for Technical Readings (AsTeR), was recently featured at a symposium on access issues held at Recording for the Blind in Princeton, NJ. In addition, David Lunney, professor of chemistry at East Carolina University, will discuss issues involving access to laboratory facilities. We intend to make this special issue as comprehensive as possible. If you are working in any capacity with access to technical and scientific texts or facilities, please consider submitting an article for this issue. Feel free to contact the editor, preferably via e-mail, to discuss your ideas, to suggest a potential author or authors, or simply to find out more about Information Technology and Disabilities.
