Call for Participants:
The first SIG-11 Computer Applications Show-And-Tell is on the books for RESNA '99! This is your chance to share all the interesting and useful things you've been doing with computers in assistive technology. Topics may include (but are not limited to):
Unique adaptations for computers in assistive technology (e.g. custom-designed hardware or software, creative setups for existing hardware/software)
Tips & techniques that people have found valuable (e.g. ways to get better recognition w/voice-input, little known Windows 95/98 tricks, training or setup techniques for devices)
Little-known products (e.g. hard-to-find mainstream commercial gadgets/software)
Unusual combinations of different devices or programs (e.g. combinations of voice-input & voice-output, multiple input-modes for one person, unqiue combinations of computer-access and other areas of assistive technologies.)
Unique ways to use computers as assistive technology (e.g. computerization of a task no normally performed on a computer, using computers as aids in learning)
People on the RESNA listserv are always posting interesting questions (and suggestions) involving the use of computers. This is a great opportunity to share some of that information with other people in the field. Presentations will be short (5-10 minutes) and informal - you don't need to write a paper. I'm sure if we think about it, many of us have interesting things to share.
If you are interested in participating, please contact me as soon as possible at ytamano@bigfoot.com, or call me at 914/786-4808. We need to plan out the session, so the earlier you contact me, the better.
Thanks.
