6. Links to ACM’s SIGCAPH - Computers and the Physically Handicapped

SIGCAPH as its name suggests goes back to pre-PC days (both computer and
language wise). It promotes the application of computing and information
technology in solving relevant disability problems. Most of its members are
computer scientists or engineers working in academia or industry and who do
not have much exposure to rehabilitation engineering or RESNA. John
Goldthwaite will be leaving as SIG-11 chair this year but has been elected
chair of SIGCAPH for the next two years. We hope to use opportunity to
create more dialog between RESNA SIG-11 and the ACM’s SIGCAPH and SIGCHI.
Since the ACM has active student chapters at many universities, a link with
RESNA student chapters would create opportunities for multi-disciplinary
  student projects.

7. Opportunities to get involved

    Review Instructional Course Proposals
    Review Concurrent Session Proposals
    Review Scientific Papers
Call companies to invite them to participate in the Developers Forum
Write an article for the SIG 11 column in RESNA news
Volunteer in the computer tech lab during the annual conference
Work on forming Student chapters for RESNA
