Using the language of neurons, researchers at Cyberkinetics Neurotechnology
Systems, Inc, Foxborough, MA, have developed the BrainGate Neural Interface
System, designed to restore functionality to a limited group of severely
motor-impaired individuals. In its first pilot trial, a 25-year-old with
spinal cord injury was able to control a computer and robotic devices using
brain activity detected by the BrainGate.
