EMBEC 2002 Conference in Vienna
= Call for papers =
Special Session in Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering

Dear Colleague,

With this letter I am addressing all colleagues working in the field of
Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering whose e-mail address is
known to me either from personal contacts or from previous conferences like
the AAATE 1999 (Duesseldorf) and 2001 (Ljubljana) or the ICCHP 2000
(Karlsruhe). I apologize for such cases where I found 2 different e-mail
addresses and could not decide which is the correct one.

From Dec. 4 to 8 Vienna will host the EMBEC 2002, the main European
Conference in the field of Medical and Biomedical Engineering. As member of
the Organizing Committee of this conference it is my special intention to
foster the participation of researchers and scientists from Assistive
Technology (AT) and Rehabilitation Engineering (RE).

For this reason I have addressed the AAATE, the Association for the
Advancement of Assistive Technology in Europe, to take the lead in organizing
several Special Sessions dealing with AT and RE. The Board of AAATE not only
welcomed this proposal but also appointed me to organize and chair these
Special Sessions on behalf of AAATE.

So it is my duty and privilege to invite you and the entire AT/RE community
to participate in these EMBEC Special Sessions and to submit papers or
posters to be presented at the conference. Please feel free to spread this
information among your colleagues (I certainly do not have all of them in my
address book)

The schedule will be the following:

Until April 30, 2002, a one to two page abstract of your presentation for
evaluation by reviewers from the AAATE Scientific Committee has to be sent
electronically (Word, PDF or plain text) to embec-aaate@fortec.tuwien.ac.at.

The review process will start immediately afterwards and end with the EMBEC
Program Committee meeting end of May. A "Notification of Acceptance" will be
sent to all authors until June 15.

For general information about the conference, the formal registration
procedure and the payments please refer to the EMBEC Web Site:
http://www.embec.org

I would be very glad to hear from you and to receive your contribution.
Please feel free to contact me (preferably via e-mail to
embec-aaate@fortec.tuwien.ac.at) if you have any questions or if I can be of
assistance.

Greetings from Vienna

Sincerely
