DeveloperWorks, IBM's free, online resource for developers, has a new topic
area that aims to help developers better address usability and accessibility
issues. Leveraging the capabilities of other usability portals such as IBM's
"Ease of Use" Web site - http://www.ibm.com.ibm/easy - the new DeveloperWorks
Usability special-topic arae has a large range of stories, columns, case
studies, and guidelines to help developers design applications with users'
needs and preferences in mind.

One tutorial on the site walks you through the various features, functions,
and controls necessary to desin into Web pages to make them accessible to
people with disabilities, in compliance with W3C accessibility guidelines. In
another feature article, user interface expert Paul Smith of IBM's Toronto
Software Laboratory debunks several several usability myths, such as the
belief that software design is a luxury, or that usability and functionality
should be addressed by separate sets of requirements.
