New "accessibility" standards would require federal agencies to make their
information technology - from computers to photocopiers to World Wide Web
sites - usable by people with disabilities. But some agency technology
experts fear the cost of compliance may be exorbitant.

The cost of accessibility 04/10/2000
Requiring agencies to buy electronic equipment that is usable by disabled
workers could boost government productivity by $466 million per year, the
federal Access Board says. But agencies may have to spend more than $2 for
each $1 they gain in productivity.
